I “Planted” these Mushrooms back in April. With all the hot days we had this summer I wasn’t sure the mycelium had survived. I wasn’t sure if I had kept the substrate damp enough. Well, I had and now we are blessed with a bounty of Stropharia mushrooms. They are also called Winecaps and Garden Giant. They can get quite large. How do they taste? They are unlike any mushroom I have eaten. They are nutty reminding me of a walnut, though not as strong. With a nice texture, they go well in many dishes. We have had them for sale at the Farmers market in Veneta. This week we move to the Elmira grange on Horn Lane. Come see us!
